In the last couple of years I feel like podcasts have really come into there own. They have gone from ‘people are aware that podcasts are a thing’ to ‘there’s a podcast for everything and my neighbour is making one’.
Like anything audio you can listen to them while doing other things, which is why I’m such a fan of them. I like to listen to podcasts while cleaning, driving or waiting for pretty much anything (bus, train, late friends).
I tend to binge listen to series until I’m up to date and then switch to a new one. I’m not very good at waiting for things weekly so I will wait until I have ‘saved up’ a few episodes before I go back to them, and therefore I am always looking for new podcasts series to try out.
The sorts of genres I enjoy listening to range from comedy, gaming, crime, sci-fi and also ones that are more I guess ‘how to’ podcasts which give you tips on improving writing or how to be a better blogger and so on. There are so many to choose from and so many different listening platforms.
As I am always on the look out for recommendations I thought I would share the podcasts that I am enjoying right now.
Three podcasts I am currently enjoying:
A fully-voiced podcast with immersive sound effects and ambience. Travel alongside Dr. Kovski, a Citizen pulled from the field of a theoretical Fringe studies, as he leads a scientific expedition with no promise of return. No training could possibly prepare the team for what’s to come.
This is an audio drama podcast, definitely sci-fi (woop woop) and just brilliant. The stories are based in and around the futuristic city of Atrius and the lawless expanse The Fringe beyond its walls. The characters are fun with great voice acting. I really invested in the characters and the world the stories are built in. There are several seasons including a series of stand alone horror stories, which are set in the world but only last an episode each story. I would say that they are more creepy than scary but they are very enjoyable and have on occasion made me a little jumpy while listening to them.
Its a fun and easy to listen to podcast, the stories are interesting / different and you should definitely check them out.
(The same people also do a podcast called The White Vault which is also excellent, so if you enjoy Liberty Endures you should also check that The White Vault).
Paranormal and true crime podcast hosted by Christine Schiefer, Em Schulz, and boxed wine. Join us every Sunday for some chilling ghost stories and downright terrifying true crime stories.
I know this is a big one but its big because its awesome. The podcast is two friends telling each other ghost and true crime stories. I enjoy it because they don’t know the story (I’m not sure why I keep saying story when at least with the true crime these actually happened but you get what I mean) that they are being told so you get their reactions at the same time that you’re reacting to the story. I’ve always had an interest in true crime and ghosts and this podcast brings them to me in a new way.
The chemistry of the two presenters is great they have a very cute friendship and its a funny and informative podcast.
A weekly comedy podcast where we discuss all types and genres of conspiracy theories from Atlantean myths to Zapruder films; from ghosts and demons to alien abductions; from werewolves and vampires to CIA assassins and Russian spies.
I discovered this podcast while travelling to my last holiday and have been taken with it ever since, the episodes are looooonnnnnngggggggg. I think the one about Marilyn Monroe is 4 or 5 hours so they aren’t for the faint hearted. Surprisingly though I find that they don’t drag, the episodes are well researched full of interesting information and the discussions they have are epic. I have laughed out loud many times at the jokes and conversations that occur.
As a tip the true crime related ones are shorter episodes.
I would love to hear any recommendations that you have for podcasts, so if you have any that you love let me know below 🙂
